RVSM height monitoring flights are required for each aircraft flown in RVSM airspace. There are two options for completing this requirement. The first is to overfly one of the Aircraft Geometric Height Measurement Element (AGHME) units. There is no charge for this overflight, but there is a slight chance that data on your aircraft will not be captured by the system.
For operators who are not near a ground based unit, or who want a guaranteed result, a GMU flight can be performed with a technician and a GPS unit onboard your aircraft. The aircraft must be flown at an RVSM level for 30 minutes while the GPS unit records flight data. The GPS unit is independent of the aircraft system.
